Local Light

Introducing a hidden gem of South St. Louis

I’ve noticed this trend and I’ve felt it myself: so many folks are looking for alternatives to Amazon, Target and Walmart for their shopping needs.

We’ve all fallen into convenience traps, and for a lot of people, these stores are sometimes the only ones around or available affordably.

I’m on a little bit of a mission to bring awareness to local small businesses because if we’re at least aware of other options, we can cut back on support for large corporations in favor of supporting local communities.

Allow me to introduce Twigs!

Founded in 2023, Twigs primary focus is to offer a variety of quality goods under one roof. They regularly attend markets and trade shows looking for new artists and vendors to carry in their store.

The overall aesthetic at first glance feels like a modern farmhouse-inspired shop, but on closer look, every piece is versatile enough to fit a range of styles and tastes.

One feature I particularly love is that some of their furniture vendors allow a lot of customization, so if you see a piece in store that’s not quite perfect, you can work with them to customize it for your home — they even have paint and finish swatches in store!

I’ve met one of the owners, Nathan, and his mom, Karen, and they’re incredibly kind! If Karen is there when you’re working, ask her about the Flower Wall.

Twigs is located at 9600 Gravois Road, St. Louis — in the Affton area. If you’re local, it’s a must see. They’re working toward online shopping availability in the future, but I’ll drop the website here for you to check out!

If you’re someone who’s looking to diversify your shopping needs and support small business, Twigs is for you!

With Warmth & Wonder
