Level Up Your Home, Level Up Your Life
What your home decor says about your life, and how you can use it to become the person you know you’re meant to be
Summary:
We’re all getting home decor backwards. You try to pick things to decorate your home that seem cute in the moment, only to find yourself in a room that makes no sense months, or even just weeks later. Instead of decorating off of temporary vibes and current trends, the best homes are curated by going inward first. When you connect with your next-level life — the one you fantasize about every day — and decorate from that vision, everything changes.
Look around the room you’re in right now. I have questions.
What do you see?
Do you like it?
What feeling bubbles up, if any at all?
What life were you living when you put the room together?
Does the room match who you are now?
Is it giving you what you need? Feeding the next version of you?
Or is it reflecting someone who doesn’t exist anymore?
If that barrage of questions felt a little intense for a home decorating blog, that’s because Alchemy of Home is about sooo much more than home decor.
I used to change my home decor every six months. I’d go do a Hobby Lobby haul or buy out a Target collection only to feel bored and basic as fuck just a few weeks later. I’d also feel a ton of guilt for “impulse” shopping and buying things I didn’t even really care about!
It felt good in the moment, but my spaces hardly reflected who I was.
I was a lot more concerned with being told my place was “cute” or impressing people who came over. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved decorating, but I criss-crossed decorating for me and decorating for an approving audience.
It’s easier than ever to click a button and have nearly an entire room mocked up by AI, but it’s the same problem in a different package: It’s still not you.
Money’s still wasted on impulses and decisions made by an algorithm instead of a big box store. It has to stop, and you’re probably here because you want something more from your home than that.
More than ever, people waking up to lives they never picked on purpose, and they’re overhauling who they thought they were. See my questions above — you can apply those to any aspect of your life, really. The answers may surprise you.
Or worse, make you realize it’s time to change… dun, dun, dunnnnnn.
A Home That Doesn’t Fit Who You Are Anymore
There’s an actual field of study called Environmental Psychology, and well, it’s pretty self explanatory: Your environment has a direct impact on your psychology.
I think we intuitively know this, but we largely just don’t do anything about it.
I’m thinking of a lot of people I know (hi, millennials) who really started “adulting” around 27-32-ish, give or take a few years, and we all went out and filled our houses and apartments with proper adult trappings:
paint
wall decor
lamps
rugs
Shit we definitely didn’t care about until it was time to “grow up.”
For a lot of us, maybe you included, we went out and did what we were supposed to do, buying the cute trendy shit at Target or Hobby Lobby, but now, looking around your house, you’re realizing you don’t even know who the fuck is looking back at you.
But what does that mean? How does it really affect your life?!
Well, for starters, it might be a total fucking drag.
Don’t tell me with a straight face that your house is millennial grey because you love grey. No one loves grey — at least not en masse.
You might walk into the living room every day after work and feel fucking BLAH… and you don’t even have to!
Changing the color on the wall can quite literally change everything from the environmental temperature and energy to your attitude and behavior. So why should you convey “blah” to yourself when you could pick quite literally any energy in the world to step into every day?!
I wrote a whole blog last week about the Modern Farmhouse epidemic, and how you can keep the formula but ditch the copy/paste aesthetic that means nothing to you. I mean, get serious: do you aspire to be a modern farmer? Really?
If you do, I beg you, knock yourself out. Go hard in the paint, queen. But I’d wager maybe like 20% of people who decorate in Modern Farmhouse ACTUALLY live a modern farmhouse adjacent life!
I wanna see your interests, your hobbies and your personality all over the house, not Joanna Gaines’ (respectfully — love you Jojo).
Repurpose the Room
So, where do you start?
Pick the room you need the most from but are getting the least out of and refer back to my opening questions.
For me, that’s my kitchen. I seriously hate cooking, but health and nutrition are a top priority for me. Eating out 3 nights a week and girl-dinners in between aren’t cutting it as far as longevity goes.
Right now, I need a kitchen that draws me in and makes it easy and fun to spend time in. I need cooking to feel like a ritual, relaxing and magical, so my kitchen needs to prompt me on entry, otherwise, I don’t wanna be there!
I’m visualizing a Norman Rockwell (Lana Del Rey’s Version) x Practical Magic crossover. I imagine taking the tradwife aesthetic and kitsch-ing it out by bringing every day magic into the room. Quaaludes and dead bodies not included.
Figure out what you want and need. Name the goals you’re striving for and visualize the life you want to be living in 6 months, a year or five years and create the space that will welcome that with ease!
Look around and figure out exactly what that is, because you’re going to plan it out next.

Plan the Room with the New You in Mind
Now you need to think about what it is the room needs to make this new life a reality.
Do you need:
new colors?
furniture?
better lighting?
decor that tells the right story?
Inside the Home Alchemy Method, we plan this out together and work on it week by week. You don’t have to do this all at once — it’s a layering process to turn the room from what it is now into the room you need it to be, but you do not have to stress-panic through a billion decisions.
We can break the room down into manageable steps and build up to the new room — that way you don’t get confused and overwhelmed as soon as you hit the paint aisle.
When you go into decorating with the outline of what you need at the top of your mind, it actually gets easy to transform the space.
For example, we plan out your color palette very early on, so every decision you make after that will be auto-filtered through a defined set of colors that you know work together. Instead of scrolling for rugs for hours, saving every random thing under the sun, you’re on a hunt for an olive green rug. How much easier is that?
Make One Decor Change in Your HomeToday
All this might sound great, and even look great in your imagination, but then you actually have to do the work. You have to commit and make the changes, officially stepping into the new you.
That’s hard stuff. Rooms stay unfinished or even untouched for months because that final step — taking action — feels too stressful or overwhelming to begin.
Well, we’re going to do less first.
To get to the room you want, you’re going to remove the room you don’t.
This is one of the key ingredients of the Home Alchemy Method: before we ever spend a dime, we start by saying no to the room we need to leave behind.
It’s time to purge what doesn’t feel like you anymore, what doesn’t support the life you’re pursuing and what you just don’t freaking like! It doesn’t have to be that deep, but for a lot of people, it is.
The emptiness between what used to be there and what’s not there yet is where all the juicy stuff is at though. Once you make room for the new life by releasing the old, the room, and your life, becomes pure potential.
If you just do this one thing, the room will feel different right away. You might feel relieved. You might feel a a little unsteady.
You will feel a shift. I can promise you that.
So, start there today. Move the energy by removing what has to go and see how the room starts to unfold right in front of you.
Step Into Your New Space
This is where the magic happens, y’all.
The Home Alchemy Method makes decorating easy because it teaches you how to bring your inner world to your outer space, and the act of saying “no” by clearing space is just the first step of the transformation.
Every week, we put a new step in place and after just eight weeks, the room is completely transformed.
We all need a home that is our mirror, our sanctuary and our best friend. It’s the place we wake up inside of every day, where all of our most intimate moments happen, and where we lay our heads every night.
A home that doesn’t reflect who you truly are can quite literally impact how you think and feel about yourself, which affects how you carry yourself and act out in the world!
The next version you’re stepping into has to be embodied to be brought to fruition, and starting at home is one of the most powerful ways to get there.
If you feel like you’re at the place where your home could take everything to the next level, the Home Alchemy Method is open at Founder pricing through the end of 2026. You can join now and in eight weeks be living in a completely different space — one that actually knows who you are.
You can join right here.
